Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians, As you are probably aware, there are now reported cases of Swine Flu in many schools in the area, although as yet, I am not aware of any children or adlults displaying the symptoms of Swine Flu at Youlgrave All Saints' Primary School. Schools are regularly updated with information from the DCSF and we have now been issued with the following advice: Swine Flu is proving to be a mild disease and most people are only affected for a few days. As the disease is evident in some schools and their local communities, school closure is unlikely, as this will not help to stop the spread of the disease. Parents/Carers should keep a close eye on their children and if they have symptoms of flu, keep them at home, inform school and contact their own GP or NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for advice. Symptoms are: Fever of 38*C or above, plus two or more of the following: Headache, Respiratory Symptoms, Cough, Runny Nose, Muscle Aches and Pains, Vomiting and Diarrhoea. Please do not send pupils to school if they are feeling unwell. Efforts will be made to ensure staff and pupils go home if they become unwell during the school day. PLEASE ENSURE WE HAVE UPTO DATE CONTACT NUMBERS. At school we will also be reinforcing basic hygiene i.e reminding children to wash thier hands thoroughly after going to the toilet and before eating, coughing and sneezing into tissues and to throw used tissues in the bin immediately after use. It would be helpful if children could have their own tissues in their pockets as well as having access to the class box of tissues. Posters have been displayed around school to remind children and adults of the procedures. Remember: Catch it. Bin it. Kill it. We hope this information helps and it will only ever be needed for information purposes. Mrs. F Jackson |
